MENT Description:
MENT, a.k.a. methylnortestosterone acetate and as trestolone acetate (the chemical name of active ingredient in MENT), is an oral derivative of the anabolic steroid nandrolone, which was clinically developed for the treatment of severe wasting disorders such as advanced HIV and refractory anemias.
As a transdermal and/or intramuscular preparation it will have a wide range of treatment applications beyond its specifically intended androgen replacement and contraception therapies, including primary hypogonadism, testicular failure, ASIH, baldness, sarcopenia, loss of bone mass, muscle wasting and cachexia, BPH, prostate cancer, and of course bodybuilding and sports performance enhancement.
It has been c-17alpha alkylated (a modification that permits the drug to pass through the liver and into the bloodstream without being deactivated, thereby making it effective for oral administration). Clinically proven to be ten times as potent as testosterone, with a faster metabolic clearance rate, MENT does not bind to sex hormone binding globulin (SHBG). As a member of the nandrolone family, one renowned for possessing very specific high anabolic and low/weak androgenic properties, MENT is very similar, in actions and side effects to its more popular relative Deca-Durabolin (Deca). As such it shares many of the family characteristics, thus much of what can be said for Deca holds true for MENT as well, with the exception of its androgenic nature which more closely mimics testosterone more on this later.
MENT Form:
The reported plan is to release MENT in oral, injectable, implantation, and transdermal forms, but it is not yet available as a prescription drug.
MENT Indications/Purpose:
Like the rest of the nandrolone family, MENT has a number of benefits for bodybuilders and athletes as it: increases levels of IGF-1 in muscle tissues; increases brain serotonergic amines levels, the chemicals that contribute to aggressive behavior which could help you to train harder thereby improving power, speed and overall results; increases the number of androgen receptors and; possesses a mild dose dependent fat reduction benefit. Additionally, nandrolones stimulate red blood cell (RBC) production which: improves endurance during exercise via better lactic acid clearing and oxygen delivery; carries more nutrients to working muscles for greater stamina; promotes better muscle glycogen restoration after exercise to speed recovery and; alleviates joint pain.
Nandrolone is considered a very adaptable compound that can be easily incorporated into all types of cycles. However, MENT is an exception, compliments of its c-17 alpha methyl group addition which enhances both its anabolic properties, and unfortunately its androgenic ones as well. Actually, due to its magnified 650 androgenic number, MENT aromatizes more like a testosterone than a nandrolone which also prevents it from being a good choice for cutting cycles (SEE SIDE EFFECTS). More popularly used within mass building cycles, its usually stacked with Testosterone.
Although it will be available in multiple forms, as described earlier, the most practical bodybuilder and athlete delivery will be oral administration. Dosage and duration in this form is recommended at 10 mg/day for 6-8 weeks, which is often enough to keep blood serum levels well above baseline with this particular drug.
MENT Side Effects:
As with any form of anabolic steroids, it can possibly cause side effects which fall into two primary categories, estrogenic and androgenic. Again, because MENT aromatizes more like a testosterone (only slower) than a nandrolone, it necessarily suffers from estrogenic side effects (those due to increases in estrogen estradiol, prolactin, progesterone or progestin) which are dose dependent, aromatization incited, and generally include increased water retention, body fat gain, and gynecomastia (which is actually due to the testosterone and estrogen ratio imbalance). Low to moderate doses of aromatase inhibitors like Arimidex and Letrozole are most often used to efficiently reduce estrogen and its accompanying side effects while on cycle, because they have less of a negative impact on your cycle gains. The more popular off cycle estrogen combatants include the synthetic estrogens Tamoxifen (Nolvadex) and Clomiphene Citrate (Clomid), two drugs that effectively block estrogens absorption because they are preferred by the estrogen receptors.
Androgenic side effects, those having to do with male sexual characteristics, occur due to elevated testosterone levels which are likely to produce oily skin, acne, body/facial hair growth, and testicular atrophy (temporary reduction in the size of your testicles). Androgen drug use of any kind is also known to accelerate balding, but only in men with a genetic predisposition for hair loss. In other words, if youre losing or going to lose your hair then testosterone supplementation can speed up the process, but it is never the primary cause of hair loss.
Your liver and libido will also be affected by MENT usage. Since its a c17-alpha alkylated and therefore hepatotoxic (liver toxic), which along with its extreme potency, MENT warrants a high recommendation for the use of liver detoxification supplements. Additionally, because nandrolones are notorious for causing changes in sexual behavior (especially impotence and lowered libido) it is highly recommended that you stack it with testosterone.
Synthetic testosterone and several other steroids, including nandrolones will shut down natural production altogether. A mere 100 mgs per week of either of these takes about 5-6 weeks to cause this shut down, 250-500 mgs shuts you down by the second week, and it takes roughly a month to return those testosterone levels to baseline.
