Steroid.com Extends Support to HPT-Axis Inc.

[July 11th, 2008] by Millard Baker

Michael Scally, M.D. at Steroid.com studio

Steroid.com provided studio time for Michael Scally, MD this week to film a promotional video for potential investors interested in his biopharmaceutical company, HPT/Axis, Inc. Dr. Scally has devoted his career to research and treatment of individuals using prescription and non-prescription anabolic-androgenic steroids.

Dr. Michael Scally has specifically focused on the period of hypogonadism following the cessation of anabolic steroids.

A rudimentary knowledge of endocrine physiology teaches that exogenous androgens cause a shutdown of the normal feedback system. The reproductive system, HPTA, does not immediately return to normal after androgen cessation. Indeed, in those studies, very few, where this has been studied it is in the use of testosterone for birth control measures and not with supraphysiologic doses use to effect body composition changes. Of even greater importance is that absolute lack, none, of HPTA normalization studies after androgen analogues. It has been incredulous that scientific literature that imposes a change upon a steady state A to an UNsteady-state B is not taken to task for its failure to account for the return to the original steady-state A. The period of hypogonadism after androgen cessation, unknown, may bring about more harm than good. This is precisely and exactly what brought about my entry into this field.

Now, Dr. Scally has formed a remarkable company that seeks to gain recognition of the adverse effects of hypogonadism and introduce effective medical interventions (PCT protocols, etc) that will eliminate, shorten or minimize the period of androgen induced hypogonadism. According to the HPT/Axis corporate website:

HPT/Axis, Inc., headquartered in Houston, Texas, is a biopharmaceutical company dedicated to the discovery, development, and commercialization of small molecules that selectively target hormone pathways for hypothalamic pituitary testicular axis (HPTA) normalization, functionality, and restoration related to the treatment of serious men’s health conditions. Our drug discovery and development programs focus is on small molecules that selectively modulate the effects of progestins, estrogens, and androgens, essential classes of hormones in HPTA regulation and control. These drugs are important in medical conditions that include cancer, osteoporosis, muscle wasting, obesity, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, chronic kidney disease (hemodialysis), sarcopenia, frailty, male contraception, and others. HPT/Axis is developing a selective estrogen receptor modulator, SERM, and CYP19, aromatase, inhibitor, in separate clinical programs in men. HPT/Axis also has an extensive clinical pipeline generated from an excellent discovery program that includes other specific product candidates.

Steroid.com believes it is time for the medical community to open their doors to non-prescription users of anabolic steroids and offer legitimate medical treatment and supervision rather than sending them away with little more than moralizing lectures. The medical community treats practically every lifestyle behavior; non-prescription anabolic steroid use should be no exception.
