Former Track Star Tim Montgomery Admits Steroid and HGH Use Prior to 2000 Sydney Olympics

[November 24th, 2008] by Millard Baker

Former track star and former world’s fastest man Tim Montgomery admitted to the use of testosterone and human growth hormone prior to the 2000 Sydney Olympic games.  Montgomery received a gold medal for running for the 4×100 relay team during preliminary heats; he did not run the 4×100 finals at the Olympics (”IOC ready to investigate Montgomery’s doping,” November 24).

“I have a gold medal that I’m sitting on that I didn’t get with my own ability,” Montgomery said. “I’m not here to take away from anybody else’s accomplishments, only my own. And I must say, I apologize to the other people that was on the relay team if that was to happen.”

The International Olympic Committee is preparing to investigate the allegation. However, it appears unlikely that other athletes running on the 2000 Sydney Olympic 4×100 relay team will be forced to relinquish their gold medals based on the precedent set by Jerome Young case. … Read the rest of this entry »

WADA Praises MLB at Growth Hormone Summit

[November 11th, 2008] by Millard Baker

The first annual 2008 Growth Hormone Summit was held by Major League Baseball (MLB) and the UCLA Medical School this week in Beverly Hills, California. The “Growth Hormone Summit: Barriers to Implementation of HGH Testing in Sports” focused on several issues related to the use of HGH in sports:

(1) understanding the currently available methods for identifying use of hGH and understanding the viability of urine testing for hGH in the future;

(2) building a consensus on the most effective methods of implementing widespread blood testing for abuse of hGH;

(3) identifying future strategies for hGH testing; and

(4) understanding the United States Laws regarding the regulation and distribution of hGH.

WADA senior science manager took the opportunity to praise MLB’s anti-doping efforts at the summit. … Read the rest of this entry »

Man Helps Cousin Obtain GH and AAS, Cousin Happens to Be Under Surveillance for Methamphetine Distribution

[September 19th, 2008] by Millard Baker

Federal and state authorities busted an international methamphetamine ring that imported over $6 million in methamphetamine from Mexican drug cartel “superlabs” as part of “Operation Broken Doll.” The investigation targeted Christopher McDaniel in Philadelphia. The McDaniel Organization included 13 other suspects in the bust.

The unfortunate Frank Piccolo just happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time. He was NOT a steroid dealer. He is gainfully employed in a respectable position and is an upstanding member of the community. His only crime is trying to help out his cousin put together a steroid/GH cycle. His cousin happened to be Christopher McDaniel. The unfortunate Frank Piccolo was a small time steroid dealer who happened to sell human growth hormone and anabolic steroids to the head of the McDaniel organization on two occasions. As a result, Piccolo will likely be indicted as part of the larger overall McDaniel methamphetamine organization.

While it is a fundamentally bad idea to illicitly sell anabolic steroids and HGH, it is particularly ill-advised to buy/sell HGH/steroids to an international meth dealer linked to the violent Mexican drug cartel.

Gabriel Blackstone had even worse luck as a mere individual user of HGH and steroids; he was seeking to buy a HGH kit and happened to find McDaniel and Piccolo as a source of HGH for his personal use. … Read the rest of this entry »

Makers of Jintropin Forfeit Millions of Dollars to the US Government

[June 19th, 2008] by Millard Baker

Chinese national Lei Jin, PhD and his company Genescience Pharmaceutical Inc., makers of Jintropin brand human growth hormone, have forfeited about $2.7 million dollars to the United States government for illegally marketing and distributing human growth hormone over the internet to bodybuilders, athletes, and pharmacies.

Lei JIn and Genescience Pharmaceutical were indicted last year as part of Operation Raw Deal. Assets from the U.S. branches of their Chinese bank accounts were frozen at the time. Now the feds say the money is theirs.

Genescience Pharmaceutical was well-known among bodybuilders for the high quality and inexpensive human growth hormone that was available on the black market. Jintropin was a patent protected 191 amino acid hGH made by proprietory secretion technology in China and imported by various individuals and pharmacies in the United States. … Read the rest of this entry »
