Side Effects of Sustanon 250

Sustanon 250 represents one of the more popular testosterone compounds and without question the most popular testosterone blend. However, there are possible side effects of Sustanon 250 use, but there is also some very good news. Although possible side effects of Sustanon 250 exist they can be avoided. In fact, for the healthy adult male, which includes one suffering from low testosterone, the side effects of Sustanon 250 can easily be avoided. For the testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) patient, side effects should not occur with proper therapy. Remember, although synthetic Sustanon 250 is merely testosterone, a hormone the body is well accustomed to and essentially needs. For the performance athlete, those supplementing with supraphysiological doses, the side effects of Sustanon 250 will carry a greater level of probability. However, most men can tolerate high levels of testosterone fairly well without any issue if use is of a responsible nature. With that in mind, let’s take a look at the possible side effects of Sustanon 250 and discover what we can do about them.

Estrogenic Side Effects of Sustanon 250:

The estrogenic side effects of Sustanon 250 include gynecomastia and excess water retention. If water retention becomes severe this can also promote high blood pressure. These side effects of Sustanon 250 are due to the testosterone hormone’s interaction with the aromatase enzyme, which causes a testosterone to estrogen conversion. As estrogen levels rise, this can lead to the related effects. In order to combat the estrogenic side effects of Sustanon 250, most men are encouraged to use an anti-estrogen. In a TRT setting an anti-estrogen may or may not be needed, but with supraphysiological doses it will almost always be necessary. You will have two classes of anti-estrogens to choose from, Selective Estrogen Receptor Modulators (SERM’s) like Nolvadex (Tamoxifen Citrate) or Aromatase Inhibitors (AI’s) like Arimidex (Anastrozole). Both can get the job done, but AI’s will prove far more effective and powerful. Let’s look at the positives and negatives of both:

  • AI’s: AI’s inhibit aromatization, thereby lowering serum estrogen levels. What doesn’t exist cannot cause a problem. Alone AI’s should not bring about a negative effect, but when used with an aromatizing steroid they can have a negative impact on cholesterol. This negative impact will largely revolve around HDL cholesterol and applies to both TRT and supraphysiological doses.
  • SERM’s: SERM’s are not as effective as AI’s, but will get the job done for some men. SERM’s do not inhibit aromatization or lower estrogen levels. SERM’s bind to the estrogen receptor, thereby preventing the estrogen hormone from binding. As an added bonus SERM’s may promote healthier cholesterol levels. While anti-estrogenic, SERM’s act as estrogen in the liver, which will promote healthier cholesterol. Unfortunately, they will not be strong enough to combat the estrogenic side effects of Sustanon 250 for many men.

Androgenic Side Effects of Sustanon 250:

The androgenic side effects of Sustanon 250 are due to the testosterone hormone being metabolized by the 5-alpha reductase enzyme, which results in testosterone being reduced to dihydrotestosterone (DHT). The androgenic side effects of Sustanon 250 can include acne, hair loss and body hair growth.   While androgenic side effects of Sustanon 250 are possible they are highly dependent on genetics. Those who are predisposed to male pattern baldness may lose some of their hair. Those who are not predisposed will not be at risk. If you are predisposed, you’re going to lose your hair no matter what you do, but the use of Sustanon 250 may speed it up. Then we have acne, and sensitive individuals will carry the greatest risk. Staying clean and dry at all times can help. If you become sweaty shower immediately, if a shower isn’t possible change into a clean dry shirt and shower as soon as you can.   In order to combat the androgenic side effects of Sustanon 250 some men will turn to 5-alpha reductase inhibitors like Finasteride. Such inhibitors can reduce the androgenicity of the testosterone hormone. The total androgenicity of the hormone will not be reduced, but it will have a significant affect. However, such inhibitors should not be used unless absolutely necessary. 5-alpha reductase inhibitors can reduce the potency of the testosterone hormone and carry side effects of their own.   The androgenic side effects of Sustanon 250 can also include virilization in women. Virilization symptoms can include body hair growth, a deepening of the vocal chords and clitoral enlargement. Due to the extremely strong potential for virilization, Sustanon 250 is not recommended to women. Women can suffer from low testosterone and often testosterone treatment is necessary. However, other testosterone options will generally be preferred.   *Cardiovascular Side Effects of Sustanon 250:   The cardiovascular side effects of Sustanon 250 can include high blood pressure and cholesterol issues. Baring any underlying issue, if water retention is controlled a healthy adult male should have no issue with high blood pressure. As for cholesterol, this can take a little more effort. The use of exogenous testosterone can suppress HDL cholesterol (good cholesterol). With TRT doses, cholesterol should not be affected in a significant way. With supraphysiological doses, HDL suppression will exist but should not be at a concerning level. However, if an AI is also used HDL cholesterol may be suppressed by as much as 20-25% with TRT or supraphysiological doses.   Healthy cholesterol can be maintained; the cardiovascular side effects of Sustanon 250 can be avoided but it will take some effort. The individual should ensure his diet is cholesterol friendly. A cholesterol friendly diet will be rich in omega fatty acids, which can be accomplished through daily fish oil supplementation. The diet should also be limited in simple sugars and saturated fats. Daily cardiovascular activity is also strongly recommended. While not always necessary, some men may find the use of a cholesterol antioxidant supplement to be beneficial.   *Suppressive Side Effects of Sustanon 250:   The side effects of Sustanon 250 will include natural testosterone suppression in all men who supplement with the compound. For the TRT patient this is of no concern as they are no longer producing enough testosterone to begin with. For the performance athlete, while on cycle this is also of no concern as the exogenous testosterone will provide their body with all it needs.   Once the use of Sustanon 250 has come to an end natural testosterone production will begin again on its own. However, it will take quite a bit of time for the previous high levels of natural testosterone to be gained. For this reason, most men are encouraged to implement a Post Cycle Therapy (PCT) plan. A solid PCT plan will stimulate natural recovery and ensure a smoother faster recovery. Such a plan will not completely restore your natural production; there is no PCT plan that can do this. However, a PCT plan will speed up recovery and ensure you have enough testosterone for proper bodily function while your levels continue to naturally rise.   Important notes on natural testosterone recovery:

  • Natural testosterone recovery assumes no prior low testosterone condition existed.
  • Natural testosterone recovery assumes no severe damage was done to the Hypothalamic-Pituitary-Testicular-Axis (HPTA) due to improper or irresponsible anabolic steroid use.
  • The TRT patient will not need to concern himself with natural recovery. The TRT patient will not be discontinuing use. If a TRT patient discontinues use he will once again suffer from low testosterone.
