Pro Wrestler Kane Denies Steroid Use in Response to Accusations by Protect Our Youth from Steroids
Glenn “Kane” Jacobs is best known as a professional WWE wrestler but he is also a Republican politician. Kane was recently elected the mayor of Knox County in Tennessee and is scheduled to be sworn in on September 1, 2018. His political success has opened him up to scrutiny over his involvement with anabolic steroids as a WWE performer.
Protect Our Youth from Steroids (POYS) founder Al Thompson seized the opportunity to gain some national publicity by calling out Kane about his involvement with in a profession where the use of anabolic steroids, human growth hormone and painkillers is rampant.
Thompson penned an informal complaint about WWE pro wrestler Kane and submitted it to the Tennessee Attorney General and the Tennessee Bureau of Ethics and Finance on August 28, 2018. Thompson also made sure to send a copy of the letter to as many local newspapers and television stations as possible.
“Jacobs was perfectly fine with, for many years, surrounding himself with steroid users plus illicit drug and steroid dealers every day while on tour,” Thompson alleged in the letter.
Kane swiftly dismissed the allegations. He vehemently denied ever using steroids at any point in his pro wrestling career. Kane has been wrestling for 18 years and counting.
Kane said he would have never used steroids because they are “very bad” and “really bad” drugs.
“I do not condone steroid use or the use of any illicit drugs,” Kane said. “I think that’s very bad. I’m a bit of a health nut, and I just think it’s just really bad. No, I’d never do that.”
Kane apparently has no plans to retire from the WWE wrestling circuit now that he has become the Knox County mayor. Kane even hopes to bring a major WWE pay-per-view to Knoxville during his mayoral term.
